ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR FIRST TIME DRIVERS

This course includes our live Zoom classroom sessions and fulfills Ohio’s required 24 hours of driver education paired with 8 hours of behind‑the‑wheel training for teens under age 18. Our certified instructors guide new drivers from the classroom to the road with clear, supportive instruction designed to build safe, confident driving habits.

Teens may begin classroom lessons at 15½ years old. All behind‑the‑wheel sessions must be scheduled after completing the classroom/Zoom/online course and passing the final exam.

• Each session is 2.5 hours
• Offered live via Zoom or in person
• Sessions may be taken out of order

• Completion of all classroom sessions and a passing score on the final exam before scheduling behind‑the‑wheel lessons
• A valid temporary permit must be presented at each lesson
• Course must be paid in full before taking the final classroom test

Ohio allows high school students to receive excused absences for attending an approved driver education course. Students may be excused for up to 8 total hours, with no more than 2 hours per day and no more than 4 days used to reach that limit. These days do not need to be consecutive.

Students cannot leave a core academic class to attend driver education.

Schools may require students to complete any classroom work missed during these excused absences.
